DUBAI – Azeem Mohammed’s unbeaten century saw Uniforge Bhatkal CC score an easy 222-run victory over National Pest Control (NPC) in the 10th Dulsco Ramadan Twenty20 tournament being played at Zabeel Park Cricket gournds, Dubai.
Two century partnerships for the first and second wickets saw Bhatkal pile up 265 runs for the loss of two wickets. Chasing a mammoth total NPC succumbed under pressure and were bundled out for a paltry 43 runs.
The tournament, organised by Dulsco Sports Club in association with the Dubai Municipality, is being played under the auspices of the Dubai Cricket Council.
Opener Azeem gave Bhatkal a perfect start. Along with Nasrullah, they put on 141 runs for the first wicket. Nasrullah hit a 34-ball 71 with the help of nine sixes and one four before he was stumped off the bowling of Prasanjit. Azeem, however, carried his bat through and scored exactly 100 from 54 balls and hit nine sixes. Azeem was involved with the next century stand along with B Rashed who scored 80 from 29 balls and belted 11 sixes.
Shazad was not out on 10 as Bhatkal set up a 266-run victory target for NPC. Imran of NPC was the most expensive of the NPC bowlers conceding 54 runs for his one wicket. Prasanjit picked up the other Bhatkal wicket to fall.
Facing a daunting task, NPC succumbed to pressure and were all out for a paltry 43 runs in 16.3 overs. Such was the dominance of Bhatkal bowlers that five NPC batsmen failed to open their account and only one batsman, Vijay, reached double digit scores making 18 from 30 balls.
Umer was the most successful bowler for the winners, claiming three wickets for five runs. Rayan and Krishna bagged two wickets each with both conceding five runs. Shahzad picked up one for seven runs as NPC conceded a 222-run victory to Bhatkal. Azeem Mohammed of Bhatkal was named the man of the match.
